Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Shrimp March 28, 2010

my spaghetti aglio olio with shrimp!

Following my one-dish-a-week program, this week we go italia bebeh! Recipe from cooks.com, altered to my agak2ness.

some of the ingredients. not in pic: pasta, dried chillies

Cara membuatnya agak senang ye puan2.

1. Cook 350g of spaghetti according to the instruction on its package :P . Once done, drain & set aside.

2. Heat the pan with abt 1/3 cup of extra virgin olive oil on low heat. Quickly fry abt 8 dried chillies until it becomes crisp, but it shouldn’t be too long to avoid the oil become discolored. Get the chillies out and drain the oil with kitchen cloth. Then mash them until they become chilli flakes.

3. Back to the pan & olive oil. Toss in 6-8 cloves of garlic, finely chopped. Saute for abt 1 minute. Next, toss in 10-12 fresh prawns, anchovies fillets (should be abt 1/2 bottle of delicius’s anchovies – see pic above) and the chilli flakes. Spare some to cater for different tastebuds, kalau nak pedas tambah sendiri later..

4. When the shrimps are almost cooked, toss the pasta into the pan, sprinkle some (or many, to your liking!) parsley flakes and season with salt & pepper.

5. Serves 3 bellies.

The verdict?

Hubby likes it, but maybe if I put in some lemon juice (as substitute for wine) it will taste more like The Lawn’s (aglio olio die best gile! but very oily). And he suggested that maybe next time we should use fresh chopped parsley instead of McCormick’s, because the flavour of parsley is tenggelam with dried one.

OMG as I scrolled down the blog I realized that 10th April is coming!!!

And I dont think I have lost any gram yet :(

Just went to gym twice, although I have registered my membership with Fitness First.

But I haven’t really started on BodyFirst yet :(

Ini semua angkara teambuilding yang xde hasil tu. But we had fun, nonetheless.

I shall start going to the gym again next Monday!

So I can eat my pasta (which I am googling for recipe now) guilt-free hehehe.

Might be cooking spaghetti marinara tomorrow, or aglio-olio. See how.

Auntie in-laws are coming, which is perfect, since I felt like baking since the weekdays but since xde org nk makan, and I am supposed to be on diet too, so I psycho-ed myself not to. Now that we have guests, let’s put on the baker’s hat.

I am supposed to upload this recipe anyway, because sooner or later this piece of kertas ajaib will hilang (instinct, hehe) so here I am copying it so that I will remember, xyah nak rujuk2 kertas. ecehh.

Part I:

1. pour 1 cup of sugar into a medium pot. brown the sugar until it turns black (or black the sugar? heh)

2. pour 1 cup of water, little by little (otherwise dia caramelized jadi ketul2)

3. pour in 1 pack (250 g) of diced Buttercup, stir till fully dissolved, then padamkan api.

(amaran: sila guna periuk x mahal, sbb silap gaya stained!)

Part II:

Simply beat 1 1/2 cup of sugar +3 eggs+3/4 teaspoon of vanilla essence till ‘kembang’ (how do i put it in English? heh).

After that, pour in 1 tin of susu sejat (i used F&N) and stir.

Then pour in batter number I in. Kacau, kacau, kacau.

Part III:

Sift in 3 cups of flour + 3 sudu KFC of soda bicarbonate.

Kacau, kacau, kacau sampai puas hati.

Then sapu butter kat baking tin, i cant remember the size i used but see pic below, agak2la. not too besar so it will become thick

hasilnya! sedia utk dibakar

Part IV:

Set oven to 180C, preheat for 10mins (buat awal2 before letak tepung pun ok).

Bake at 180C for 1 hr 10 mins.

Pics dimasukkan later, after cake dah tinggal 1/4 hehe.

The verdict? Nicely done! Sumpah abang x tipu.

slightly longer update:
went to TTFC alone at first, but then joined by my friend, Bunn. yay! To gymalone ok. Mcm kuat gile willpower kan :P
i was on the treadmill for 1.5 hrs. the first 40 mins was on weight loss mode. like, slow gile ok! not running at all, not even brisk walking. it was more like naik bukit, with inclined platform at super low speed. itu pun i increased my speed to 2.4, before that the fastest was 1.0. macam segan je sbb org lain semua lari2 hehehe.
to make myself feel better, i googled for some info, whether or not i am on the right speed. turns out it is!

These treadmill weight loss tips are a great way to help you shed a few pounds and shape up. A treadmill is designed for the most natural form of exercise which is walking. You don’t need any special skills to use these machines because if you can walk, you can exercise on a treadmill. Treadmill weight loss is one of the most successful methods of losing weight. Just be consistent and work within your fat burning target range for 45 minutes or more per session at least 5 to 6 days per week.

Mula2 kita set target March 10, 2010

Contrary to the plan, the plan to go to TTFC (typo, not TTMC the clinic) did not materialize because it wasnt raining and my colleague wanted to enjoy it in the park instead. We walked, did not jog. Nevermind, start slowlah :)

Planning to go to TTFC with Bunn today, but LoML indicated that he might not need to stayback today. Hopefully his going home time will still be abt 6.30pm as usual.

While chatting to Bunn briefly on YM this morning, since we were so inspired by The Biggest Loser Asia last nite, we agreed to set our own target, which is…

TO LOSE 2 KG MONTHLY, means TO LOSE 2 KG BY 10 APRIL 2010.

Small start hehehe. Slowly, but surely! :)

suratan atau kebetulan? March 8, 2010

nowadays, my going home time has been between 8.30pm-10pm. nope nope, it wasnt me, its the hubby. HR ni kerja mcm xde esok ok, heran betul..ada jugak manusia mcm ni. after once spooked by konsert ketuk tingkap (i am working at level 78 ok, so tak kelakar), i never stayed back alone in the office anymore. previously, until last week, the after-work activity would be mengukur klcc shopping centre with my heavily pregnant colleague, jj. dan byk juga matawang malaysia bertukar tangan in the process. now that jj dah bersalin yesterday, i need to take up a new activity. (btw jj, congrats for the newborn! remind him that if he likes his baju/stuffs, auntie azni was one of the judge of mama’s pick hehe)

so, since there’s no sign of my LoML stop staying back in the office anytime soon, but there ARE signs of my lemak2 nak take the limelight, i think inilah petunjuk dr Tuhan. I NEED TO GO TO THE GYM, finally.

i think i’ll start tomorrow. the plan is to join fitness first, but since my fitness first friend wont be in tomorrow, i’m planning to go to TTMC pay-per-visitlah, sbb some of my colleagues will be going there tomorrow. so…hehehe…SIAPLAH KO LEMAK2 SEKALIAN!!!

Today i decided to forget the luxury of eating sumptuous food, seeing friends, gossiping & bitching because i miss exploring my feelings, what i want, what i want to be, azam baru (only in March? heh) and the list goes on.

I feel like a lot of things has happened in my life and i rarely had a time to properly record, reflect & plan.

And even bought a notebook for that, yesterday

But where do i start? I can’t even make-up my mind whether to write them down, or to type them out-in my blog, or in my personal notes?

Been browsing the AppStore for some application like a diary or something but none really caught my interest.

So as usual, i think, i’ll do both :) sbb xleh decide. ni jangkit Hubster yang – if xleh decide which one to order, order them both. hehehe

Ciss, ini semua gara2 bunn. Tetibe senyap menghilang, kata nak lunch sama2. Kannnnnnn dah terexplore feelings bagai. Hehehe. But it feels good to pour our thoughts out kan. No wonder some people blog quite frequently.

Tapi diriku baik, cantik pula tu (muahahaha),
On the way nak pg dinner,
Singgah sebentar ke rumah itu.

Pernah menggunakan Clean & Clear,
Tapi tidak kekal begitu,
Gate n lampu belum pasang, tapi yard dah clear,
Cukup sudah menggembirakan hatiku :)
